Q + A

When should I arrive?

Wedding festivities start on July 4th. We are excited to share in the joy of all events leading up to the ceremony and reception. Please RSVP to let us know which events you are able to attend either on this website or on the mailed invitation.

Should I rent a car?

Renting a car is not necessary. We will provide transportation to any wedding-related events outside of San Sebastián. We only recommend renting a car if you plan to explore outside of San Sebastián or other cities/regions in Spain. Keep in mind most cars in Spain have manual transmissions, although cars with automatic transmissions are available. If you choose to rent a car, there are many public parking garages in San Sebastián, which average about €18/day. That said, San Sebastián is popular in the summer months and centrally-located garages may fill up early each day. Street parking is generally reserved for residents only and requires a permit.

Where should I stay?

As San Sebastián is so easy to get around on foot or by public transport, you can pretty much stay anywhere within the city center. We recommend staying in the Parte Vieja (Old Town), Gros, or Antiguo. We recommend booking a short-term rental or a hotel, both are great options.

Book early for the best rates. Since the Tour de France and the Festival of San Fermin, in Pamplona (running of the bulls) are both nearby and take place in July, accommodations will fill. However, if you would prefer to stay further out of the city, do let us know and we can help you decide where would be best to stay.

Can I bring the little ones?

To ensure that everyone can fully enjoy the celebration without any concerns, we kindly ask that all events be adults-only. Feel free to reach out to us for details about a local childcare service that we've connected with. This way, you can have peace of mind while you join in the merriment!

What is the weather like in San Sebastian in July?

The weather is very unpredictable. It can rain for three days straight and be 60 degrees or it can be 80 degrees and sunny every day. Of course, we're hoping for lots of sun :) You never know what the coastal Atlantic winds will bring, so it's best to come prepared for both climates.

What is Donostia?

Donostia is the Basque name for San Sebastián. Basque pride runs deep and you’ll often find local citizens correcting you for calling it San Sebastián. Donostia is well-known for its international reputation as a summer getaway and for its Michellin-rated dining - more restaurants rated here per capita than anywhere else in the world!
